VACUHO is excited to announce that registration for the VACUHO Drive-In Workshop is now available. Registration is available from today until Friday, July 8th. The deadline CAN NOT be extended in order to allow for the needs Randolph College's Catering department, so be sure to sign up no later than July 8th.


This year's workshop, sponsored by VACUHO and held in conjunction with Randolph College, is being held on Friday, July 15th. The workshop will feature 8 presentations. These presentations will be 18 minutes each and will be followed by a 12 minute round table discussion on that topic. Check-in for the conference will begin at 9 am with the workshop opening at 9:45 am. The workshop will wrap up at 3:45 pm.


It is important to note that even though this workshop is sponsored by VACUHO (The Virginia Association of College and University Housing Officers), the general topic addressed in each presentation will answer a statement or question regarding "What matters to me is...." so we expect this workshop to be beneficial for all higher education professionals and it is NOT geared simply for those who work with Housing or Residence Life. Please share this information with colleagues across your campus who may be interested in and benefit from the experience.


Confirmed session topics include:

  • Making students feel like they matter
  • Empowering residential student leadership
  • Individual vs. community rights and responsibilities
  • Balancing life and stress in the workplace (while living on campus!)
  • The importance of the out of class experience
  • Mentoring relationships through the generations
  • Creating inclusive environments
  • Positive relationships with constituencies on campus

Not only is the workshop in a great central location in Virginia on a beautiful campus, but the cost is ONLY $15. Payment will be accepted ahead of time via check made out to VACUHO (sent to Residence Life, Phillip Boyd, 1584 Wesleyan Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502) or on site via cash or check. It is necessary for everyone who has signed up for the conference as of the July 8th deadline to make payment. If you discover you are unable to attend after the 8th, you may send someone else in your place, but payment still needs to be made and there can be no refunds.
