Hello VACUHO!
Hello VACUHO!
I am writing to share important information about our upcoming business meeting at the Virginia Student Services Conference and upcoming Conferences.
An email was sent earlier this month by our President-Elect inviting Housing and Residence Life professionals to submit themselves or colleagues for nominations to serve on the Governing Council within an Executive role. These positions will be voted upon by our membership. We are currently seeking candidates for the following positions;
Our President-Elect, President and Past President will also appoint the following Governing Council Representatives;
During the Business Meeting at VSSC, we invite all Housing and Residence Life professionals to attend. We will hold elections and if we do not receive any nominations by application, we will receive nominations during the business meeting. Successful candidates must receive a majority vote. The voting process consists of an institutional vote (each VA institution represents a single vote). Senior Housing Officers are encouraged to connect with their delegation to cast their single institutional vote or declare an individual on their delegation to cast their institutional vote. The current VACUHO Governing Council will give an informative progress report regarding our stated goals, provide a brief state of the VACUHO Organization address and will share information about our bidding processes for hosting the Summer Drive-in Conference (Friday, July 12, 2024 & Friday, July 11, 2025) and Student Leadership Conference (November 2025)
Conferences
We encourage each institution to send up 10 students and 2 advisors to the VACUHO Student Leadership Conference (SLC) at Richard Bland College. We are seeking additional presentations from both students and advisor-delegates by November 3, 2023, to provide a well-rounded experience for our residential student leaders! The final deadline for conference registration and scholarships has been extended to Nov 7, 2023.
The Virginia Student Services Conference (VSSC) will be held at the Wintergreen Resort. VSSC is a collaborative effort on behalf of VACUHO, NASPA-VA and VACPA to organize a premier, state-wide conference for Student Affairs Professionals. We invite you to learn, network, share ideas, and socialize with your colleagues from all around the State of Virginia.
I want to thank our dedicated VACUHO Membership and Governing Council for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as President of VACUHO, and I look forward to sharing organizational updates and seeing you on ‘The Mountain’ for VSSC and all of the student-leaders of Virginia at Richard Bland College!
